The National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutors Association (NAPIPA) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting justice and to advancing the interests of prosecutors of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) heritage.
Fanny Yu has been a prosecutor for 17 years and is currently a Deputy District Attorney for the San Diego District Attorney’s Office in the Juvenile Division. Ms. Yu is an expert in the areas of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, Juvenile sex assault & DV laws, and WIC827 disclosure laws. During her 15 years with the San Diego DA’s office Ms. Yu’s prior assignments included Sex Crimes & Human Trafficking, felony trial team in North County Division, and Superior Court handling preliminary hearings. Ms. Yu is a trainer for CDAA and trains law enforcement agencies, Child Welfare Services, Dependency attorneys, victim advocacy groups, school district personnel, medical/health community on Human Trafficking and CSEC. Ms. Yu is a member of the San Diego County Regional Human Trafficking and CSEC Advisory Council and the San Diego Police Foundation’s SafetyNet Advisory Council. She received her JD in 2001 from Loyola Law School (Los Angeles) and her BA in 1998 from UCLA.
Alex Adams is a Deputy District Attorney with the Santa Clara County D.A.’s Office. Alex is a graduate of UCLA Law School, and he started working with Santa Clara County as a law-clerk after taking the bar exam in 2013. Now in his fifth year, he is currently assigned to the Major Narcotics Vendor Prosecution team, which investigates and prosecutes large-scale narcotics trafficking cases. While not at work, Alex coaches high-school mock trial and volunteers at an education-related non-profit.
Young Cho currently serves as an Assistant District Attorney for the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office. Prior to working for the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office, Ms. Cho served as a prosecutor in Fulton County. She has prosecuted a large-scale of misdemeanor and felony cases. Ms. Cho is an advisory member to the Council of Accountability Court Judges JTC Special Committee. Ms. Cho is a graduate of North Carolina State University and Indiana University School of Law.
Paul Jhin (corrected bio: Paul Jhin is a co-founder of NAPIPA and was National President from 2014-2022. He previously served as the Northern California Chapter Vice-President ('10-'14) and Northern California President ('14-'16). After spending seven years prosecuting gang crimes, he is the Supervising Deputy District Attorney of the Juvenile Justice team at the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. He previously worked at the Contra Costa and San Mateo District Attorneys' offices. He received his BA from UC Berkeley and JD from the University of San Diego. Paul served as the former President of APALSA at University of San Diego. In his spare time he lives vicariously through his kid's sports' leagues and is a karaoke rap champion (in his own mind).)

From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Ng was a Senior Felony Trial Attorney in the Blue Zone Trial Bureau, where he tried felony level crimes ranging from Felony Assaults, Burglaries, Rapes, and Robberies to Felony Drug sales and Homicides. From 1998 to 1999, he was Deputy Bureau Chief of ECAB and Criminal Court. From 1999 to 2007, he was eventually promoted to Bureau Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau, and prosecuted DV homicide cases. From 2007 to 2014, Mr. Ng was Chief of Training, responsible for coordinating and conducting training for over 500 prosecutors office-wide. During this period, he was a member of the Ethics Oversight Committee and the Chief Liaison to the Brooklyn Asian Community. From 2014 to 2017, he was Chief of the Immigrant Fraud Unit, which prosecuted individuals/businesses that targeted and exploited immigrants. Currently, he is the Bureau Chief of Trial Bureau I – Red Zone. Externally, he is an active member of the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) and a founding member of its Prosecutors Committee. Hao Q. Nguyen, came to this country as a refugee from Vietnam at the age of nine. He grew up in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. Hao was raised alongside his two older brothers by a single mother. After graduating from high school he attend Saint Cloud State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Criminal Justice. Hao went on to become a police officer and sheriff’s deputy working in the patrol division. Having gained experience of the criminal justice system from firsthand experience as an officer, he sought to further his understanding of the criminal justice system beyond that of the patrol car. Hao went on to attend Hamline University School of Law and received his jurist doctorate in 2010. The first five years of his career he handled the prosecution of misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor crimes, as an assistant city attorney for the Saint Cloud, City Attorney’s Office. In 2014, Hao began his employment as an assistant county attorney, for the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, handling felony level violations from auto theft, criminal sexual conduct violations and murder. In 2019, Hao was promoted to Assistant Division Director of the Adult Trial’s Division. The recognition that prosecutors at their core are ministers of justice as opposed to solely utilizing the justice system to punish others has been at the forefront of Hao’s dedication to public service. Hao teaches Constitutional Criminal Procedure as an adjunct professor at Mitchell Hamline law school. He is the chair of Asian Women United Minnesota (AWUM, a nonprofit that provides housing and care for women and children who experience domestic violence and homelessness). Hao is also the Chair of the MCAA (Minnesota County Attorney Association) Diversity Committee.
Melissa Ocampo is a Deputy District Attorney for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. She is currently assigned to the North County Division where she handles felony trials. Ms. Ocampo was born and raised in San Diego. She earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of CA, Irvine in 2008, and then returned to San Diego where she earned her JD from California Western School of Law in 2011. Prior to working for the DA’s Office, Ms. Ocampo also law clerked for the offices of San Diego City Attorney, California Attorney General, and San Diego Alternate Public Defender.”
