11.2.17 - 11.5.17 NAPIPA Goes to Washington, D.C. (NAPABA Convention)!

On November 2-5, 2017 NAPIPA had a big presence at the 2017 NAPABA Convention.

NAPIPA put on two MCLE panels at the convention:

1. "So You Want to Be a Prosecutor?"

2. "Modern Prosecution Challenges & the Impact of Law Enforcement on Immigrant & Business Communities" (which qualified for "Ethics" credit)

While there we had many members from all over the country so we conducted hiring and informational interviews with law students and lawyers who were interested in working in prosecution offices like the LA and NY District Attorney's offices.

We were honored to spend some time to US Congressman Ted Lieu.

We also hosted a well attended happy hour that Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court Goodwin Liu was gracious enough to attend.  Prosecutors from New York, the Midwest, and all over California met to mingle and exchange war stories.

Some of us went a little crazy with our name tags but of course it's never officially a NAPIPA party until we hit the late night karaoke bars!

On October 28, 2017 NAPIPA held its 4th Annual Scholarship Banquet, "Achieving Justice Through Diversity & Collaboration," in beautiful San Diego, CA at the Catamaran Resort Hotel.

We were honored to have the Honorable Ming Chin, Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court, and San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan speak to the packed room that faced out to lovely Mission Bay.

Congratulations to San Diego Deputy District Attorney Peter Quon for being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award and Sacramento Deputy District Attorney Thienvu Ho for winning NAPIPA Prosecutor of the Year.

And of course we want to congratulate future prosecutors and leaders, Genevieve Galman, Jennifer Gong, Kenny Nguyen, and Janice Tang for getting C.C. Yin for Justice Scholarship Awards.

Everyone had a great time watching the Heali'I's Polynesian Revue, bidding on wondersful Silent Auction items, and of course the lovely view from the Catamaran Resort.

Attendees wrapped up the evening walking out to the resort's dock, boarding the Bahia Belle Sternwheeler Boat, and partying the evening away.

Big thank you to San Diego Chapter President Fanny Yu and the San Diego Chapter Board for putting together a night to remember.

And of course special thanks to everyone who came and supported NAPIPA!
