On November 2-5, 2017 NAPIPA had a big presence at the 2017 NAPABA Convention.
NAPIPA put on two MCLE panels at the convention:
1. "So You Want to Be a Prosecutor?"
2. "Modern Prosecution Challenges & the Impact of Law Enforcement on Immigrant & Business Communities" (which qualified for "Ethics" credit)
While there we had many members from all over the country so we conducted hiring and informational interviews with law students and lawyers who were interested in working in prosecution offices like the LA and NY District Attorney's offices.
We were honored to spend some time to US Congressman Ted Lieu.
We also hosted a well attended happy hour that Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court Goodwin Liu was gracious enough to attend. Prosecutors from New York, the Midwest, and all over California met to mingle and exchange war stories.
Some of us went a little crazy with our name tags but of course it's never officially a NAPIPA party until we hit the late night karaoke bars!
On 7.27.17 our SD Chapter held their annual "Prosecutors and Future Prosecutors Mixer." Attorneys from the US Attorney's Office, DA's office, Attorney Generals, and SD City Attorney's office met with law students and interns interested in pursuing careers in prosecution.

ON 5.24.17 NAPIPA proudly co-sponsored PALSD's 3rd Annual Trial Reenactment. Also present were Jerri Malana (past SD County Bar association president), District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, and Superior Court Judge David Danielsen (Criminal Presiding). On March 31, 2017, NAPIPA helped celebrate Santa Clara University’s 36th Annual APALSA Banquet along with Keynote Speaker California Assemblyman Evan Low. Congratulations SCU APALSA and keep up the great work!!!
On March 30, 2017 NAPIPA New York Chapter President Kin Ng was part of a panel discussion at City University of New York (CUNY)'s panel “Diversifying Public Interest and Advancing Minority Interests Through a Career in Prosecution."
On February 22, 2017 NAPIPA held a Prosecutors' Panel at UC Hastings School of Law. NAPIPA members and hiring deputy district attorneys from Santa Clara County, San Mateo County, San Francisco County, Marin County, and Sacramento County talked with law students about what their respective offices were looking for in regard to interns and deputy district attorneys. After the panelists answered questions from a moderator, they fielded questions from the audience and then reviewed the law students' resumes to provide them with advice on how to better present themselves when applying at prosecution offices.
Special thanks to Mai Buell for organizing.
